Here at Atitlan Organics, we think that small-scale food production and localized resource utilization is the wave of the future. We are proud to spread the word of Permaculture, nutrient dense food production, local resource utilization and other sustainable practices, as these are the areas where we can effect the most positive change in our lives and communities. Throughout the year, we host courses in Permaculture, natural building, herbalism, and more. All of our courses are a great mix of applied skills, ecological design and theory, and field trips throughout the region. Our courses are taught by amazing facilitators, are always full of people from all over the world, and are truly a one-of-a-kind experience!

Studying Permaculture and Natural Building at Atitlan Organics is a great way to fast track your understanding of natural systems and how to interact with them. We have built an educational and fully-functional, profitable, and off-the-grid permaculture farm. The systems in place allow visitors and students to experience the theory in real time. Furthermore, there are plenty of undeveloped areas for new experimentation.

Our courses are a blend of regenerative design theory, hands-on practical lessons, and trips throughout the region to check out related projects. They are both knowledge-dense and super fun! We offer a variety of unique courses, including Foundations of Regenerative Design, a 2 week course covering the fundamentals of Permaculture design and natural building; our 80-hour Permaculture Design Certification courses; the brand new 3-week Permaculture for Community Empowerment, a cutting-edge PDC which combines the traditional design course with content on self-care and holistic community development; the Sacred Earth Yoga Teacher Training, a 200-hour YTT plus Permaculture Immersion; and finally Permaculture for the Herbalist’s Path, a 4-week course which covers both the traditional PDC and an 80+ hour herbal studies course.
